Hey guys, my name is Calvert and I am the newest addition to Wedding Editorials – it’s a pleasure to “meet” you! I graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Technology degree, and was pretty set on becoming the next print production superstar (…just kidding). It didn’t take me long to realize that my true passion was with photography. I always loved capturing special moment that unfolds naturally, using them to preserve and share the fondest memories.
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. — Dr. Seuss
Since interning with the team, I’ve learned that there’s so much more to being a wedding photographer than just the images. Yes, it’s 100% about capturing the perfect moments, but it’s also about all the planning prior to the big day and ensuring that you’re doing your part to make it the smoothest day possible for everyone. My biggest motivator and reward comes from seeing the way couple’s faces light up when looking through the photos together.
As a freelance photographer, I realize working in a team gives me a different perspective of how to shoot a wedding. Having a diverse team with different personalities, views and skill sets can help deliver the best service to our clients. We also have a great team dynamic which helps drive each other to become more efficient. When a team is able to work well together, they accomplish more than an individual can do alone.
One of my favourite parts of being in a team is the ability to work with diverse personalities and perspectives. As an extravert, being around other people energizes and motivates me to be better. The synergetic team dynamics allows us to be more creative by learning from each other.
In my free time, you’ll find me exploring the wilderness and traveling the world in search of new experiences. Fitness is important to me, so I try to exercise on a weekly basis to maximize my eating quota. This is mostly because of my other hobby though – I’d like to categorize myself as a “niche” foodie, always on the search for the best noodle joints, and dedicated to a lifelong mission of consuming as much as humanly possible of it. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, so if you would like to grab a coffee, count me in.
