FAQ

+........ HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS?

Our collective background in the commercial, advertising and magazine world is the primary driver that differentiates us from other photographers. In a world where anyone can purchase a decent camera these days, throw together a website and Instagram account, having worked alongside renown creative directors, art directors and photo editors and managing large crews on set distinguishes us from the all the entry-level photographers. With 15 years of experience, Wedding Editorials has a discerning approach and style that we bring to your wedding imagery. Wedding Editorials also differentiates itself from other photographers because we work, collaborate and shoot as a team. Many other photographers fly solo and tag along an assistant or a less experienced photographer, assigning them “lesser” jobs or tasks that are not even photography-related (e.g. carry bags). By the middle of your day, this sets up solo photographers to be physically, mentally and creatively drained because the pressure and burden lies mainly on them. Wedding Editorials always provides at least two principal photographers as your photography team. As such, you can be confident that no shots will be missed and can expect maximum collaborative creativity from the start to finish of your day.

+........ HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?

The first thing is to contact us so we can make sure our team is available still. We’ll be in touch to get some more information on your wedding day plans, your vision for the day as well as what you expect in the realms of photography. We feel it’s important to connect with our potential clients whether in person, via Skype or on the phone to ensure a good rapport and fit for all. Once you’ve made a decision to book our team, we ask for a 50% non-refundable retainer as well as a signed electronic contract. The remaining 50% of the balance is collected during the last meeting where we iron out final details for smooth sailing. Due to some (awkward) bidding wars in the past, we do not hold dates for any reason or guarantee the availability of your date of inquiry without a retainer and a signed electronic contract.

+........ HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Wedding Editorials is an internationally known photography team with commissions as far as Japan, Florence, Rome, Panama, Hawaii, Mexico, and beyond. Flight and accommodations will need to be provided for the team, which is typically comprised of two people for any wedding or event outside of the Toronto and surrounding area. We like to arrive at least two days prior to the event, in order to scout for locations and settle in and we often fly back to Toronto the day after the event. Please contact us for a quote for your destination wedding or event.

+........ DO YOU USE SECOND SHOOTERS?

You will always be assigned a photography team for your wedding coverage. Teams typically consist of two photographers. However, based on the volume of work or logistics of your day, we may add a third photographer to your team at our own discretion. This will never be an extra charge to you. Having a photography team on your day allows for maximum creativity, multiple angles and ensures that no moment is missed.

+........ WHEN WILL WE SEE OUR PHOTOGRAPHS?

e are always excited to show your images as soon as we can. After backing up your images, your wedding goes in queue to get culled (sorted), colour corrected and uploaded to your own private, password protected online gallery. Typically, galleries are available for viewing 4-6 months after your wedding. Your online gallery is used to share images with guests, proof your images for your wedding book and to order fully retouched, professional prints that are shipped right to you. Online galleries are closed one year after going live.

+........ WILL MY WEDDING BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU?

We cover a limited number of select weddings each year to ensure a memorable experience and quick service for our couples. As such, the right connection and chemistry is of utmost importance. Our brides and grooms are professionals who have a keen eye for style and details. Having a good pulse on the dynamic nature of fashion, our brides and groom are mindful of colours, textures and trends but have a strong sense of their own style. Our brides and grooms place a high value on bespoke, customized items and always choose the path of tailored services and products over the mass-produced. And while our couples are often keeping productive at their workplace, they enjoy slowing down and enjoying life through exploring new coffee roasts, wines and local food or just lounging on the couch together, catching up on favourite TV shows.

+........ DO YOU OFFER PACKAGES WITHOUT A BOOK?

We are passionate about our vision and our craft. As such, as are equally passionate about providing you with a finished presentation of our work. It is with few exceptions that we provide coverage without a book.
An analogy we like to give is that of a wedding video team. A wedding video team carefully captures specific angles and scenes mindfully throughout your day with your final edit or film mind. They go through all the footage, reorder things, trim and cut clips, colour grade the shots and carefully edit everything to music. They put a story together for you based on their vision and unique perspective of your day. In the end, it’s that final piece, the edited film that they will give you to — it’s actually what you’ve paid for! It doesn’t make much sense for them to deliver a USB full of uncut, unedited scenes and clips from your entire day for you to look at or for you to edit together yourself. In the very same way, your wedding book is the tangible, polished and final presentation of your wedding day memories.  Every image that goes inside the book has been carefully selected then artfully retouched. When designing and laying out your book, things like composition, color, context, size, dynamics, and visual narrative are all mindfully considered. The end result? A polished and finished presentation of your wedding memories and not a disc full of hundreds and hundreds of images. Just as a video team shoots specific shots and angles to be edited into a final film, we too, take certain shots and images to be used together for the purpose of your book. In the fleeting age of a digital-everything, we find great value in the tangible. It requires thought, work, commitment and time to make. Sounds like something that would be a perfect fit for your wedding images 🙂

+........ WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COLOUR CORRECTED AND RETOUCHED IMAGES?

“Colour corrected” images are just that — they have had the overall colours and tones of the images balanced (exposure, white balance, tint, contrast). “Retouched” images goes beyond the batch colour correction as a way to indivudally prep images for print or for any kind of use:

  • Our signature colour finish is applied
  • Individualized colour correction
  • Detailed attention is given to highlights and shadows
  • Details attention is given to skin tones
  • Skin is treated (smoothing, blemishes, lines, etc.)
  • Removal of distracting elements
  • Cropping, straightening, camera lens corrections
